How Image Removal Works

Strip heavy layout XObjects and shrink document sizes in three steps.

1

Upload PDF

Drag and drop your PDF file. Our engine parses the structural page dictionary instantly.

2

Select XObjects

Select specific image frames, backdrops, or heavy graphics you want to extract and purge.

3

Download Cleaned PDF

Save your document with images replaced by low-overhead placeholder bytes.

Shrink and optimize PDF sizes

Quickly decrease document bandwidth footprints. Ideal for e-readers, low-connection networks, or archiving texts.

Granular Image Selection

Scan files for embedded image blocks. Review their sizes and select only what you want to remove.

Clean Structural Purge

Replaces image streams with 1x1 pixel empty streams, keeping page dimensions and layout alignment.

Completely Local Execution

Your PDF contents are processed locally inside your web browser. No cloud storage risks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common queries regarding client-side PDF image extraction.

Q.Will this affect text or layout arrangement?

No. The image removal retains the structural page hierarchy and grid coordinates. It simply strips raw image streams without altering surrounding layout boxes.

Q.Can I choose which images to remove?

Yes. The scanner extracts thumbnails and sizes of all embedded images, allowing you to selectively check or uncheck individual image XObjects.

Q.Does this compress vector graphics?

No. Vector graphic path commands (like SVGs or lines) are not stored as image streams, so they are not affected by this removal tool.

Q.Is my scanned PDF readable after image removal?

If a PDF is a scanned document (meaning pages are complete images without OCR text), removing the images will remove all page contents. Make sure the document contains real text before purging.
